Description
Like the other turn-of-the-century homes on this section of Arrow Highway, this one-story residence is set off by a fairly deep setback which is neatly landscaped. It is approached by a central cement path flanked by palm trees. Capped by a hipped roof with boxed eaves, the building is sheathed in narrow clapboard. A front gablet pierced by a latticed vent is centered over the facade. Tuscan columns set on a low clapboard wall articulate a three-bay recessed porch which spans the facade. The porch is screened, leavinq the offset entry and windows to either side faintly visible. -substantially unaltered, the building is in good condition. RESEARCH NOTES: B.S. and L. Byers were the first owners of this parcel after the Magnolia Land and Water Company. They were assessed in 1907 and 1908 while Henry J. Reichert was the title holder from 1909 to 1914. In 1915 W.C. Born purchased the property, and it remains in the Born family today. Most likely the Byers or Reichert were responsible for the construction of the house.
