Description
A broad brick chimney, slightly tapered, bisects the facade of this one-story English Revival bungalow. The raking cornices of a front gable sweep outward from either side of the chimney. Behind the front gable, a clipped side gable caps the principal volume of the building. Cut away from the northwest corner of the house, the entry is marked by a slight arch in the eaveline and by an open porch elevated three steps. A pair of six-overone double-hung sash windows, as well as the door which is oriented perpendicular to the street, open off the space. Another pair of windows flank the chimney while a third pair occupies the south third of the facade. Other fenestration may be hidden behind dense hedges. Only one minor alteration to this well-maintained home was noted: an aluminum awning and vertical supports at the entry. RESEARCH NOTES: Gussie and Georgia Pickett purchased this lot in 1926. In 1929 they were assessed for a $1250 improvement. The 1928 directory listed Gus and ~eorgia Pickett, fumigator with the Co-op Fumigating and Supply Co., residing at 324 1st Avenue.
