Description
No indication of the "as builtw design remains on the facade of this one-story commercial structure. The parapet is hidden by a corrugated screen. Below a horizontal canopy, two storefronts have been entirely altered. The concrete construction is not visible. RESEARCH NOTES : The assessment record indicates that an $800 improvement was built in 1924. Jacob Perschbacher and Henry Blohm were assessed for the improvement. Later Blohm and his wife Alma became the sole owners. An article in the Uwland News on April 4, 1924 announced the purchase by Blohm and Perschbacher of the Upland Realty and Insurance Company of the lot and the planned construction of an office for the company and a rental store. The 1928 Sanborn indicates that the building was used for an office and a confectionery. In 1932 a zero improvement assessment was recorded, indicating either a mistake in the record or a new building, with a slightly lower assessment, in 1933.
