Description
A front gable breaks up the predominantly side-gabled roofline of this one-story Craftsman bungalow. Exposed beams and rafters are visible in the eaves. The front porch runs the entire width of the home. Twin windows with transoms sit on either side of the front door. A small vent marks the center of the front gable. Battered stone piers on either end of the porch support a slightly arched crossbeam. Centered cement steps have stone sidewalls with cement coping; stone half-piers with cement coping sit at the top of the steps. Wooden railings further enclose the porch space. The entry may have been altered, but the bungalow is substantially intact and in good condition. RESEARCH NOTES : There was no improvement assessed on this lot in 1914; an $800 assessment in 1915 indicates construction had taken place. The owner at the time was W.D. Simpson. Curiously, the 1912 Sanborn did picture a house at this location, two years before construction seems to have taken place.
