Description

A side-gabled roof and a shed-roofed dormer establish the strong horizontal lines of this one-and-one-half story Craftsman bungalow. Rafters punctuate the overhanging eaves. A porch, anchored by cobblestone piers at each end, spans the facade. six steps, flanked by stone pedestals with posts, lead to the elevated porch. A stick railing encloses the space. It is overlooked by a broad wood door and tripartite windows. Dark shingling clothes the structure, which appears intact and in good condition. RESEARCH NOTES : Apparently this house was built by Clarence E. Sears around 1910- 11, when he purchased the property from subdivider G.B. West. The house appears on the 1912 Sanborn as "517." Sears, whose professional association was "Hanson and Sears," lived here from 1912-14, according to the directories. The next ownerlresidents were Charles and Kate Barr.
