Description

The most notable element of this one-story English influence residence is its roof design. Multiple hipped roofs have rolled edges and are pierced by a swept dormer vent in the rear and a dormer with rolled eaves in the front. The front roof sweeps up into an arch at the left (south) end and extends past the house on the north to create a porte cochere. Deeply shadowed and vine-clad, the body of the house is difficult to see. Visible features include stucco siding, a patio on the south enclosed by a low pierced stucco wall with brick coping, and windows banded by rows of small rectangular lights at the top. Although the roof material is not original, the house seems to retains most of its original design. It is in good condition. RESEARCH NOTES : Leroy A. and Emily H. Weller had this home constructed in 1922. A $3000 first improvement assessment was recorded in 1923. According to the notes in the Upland Local History Collection, Weller was associated with the Garrett Winery.
