Description
Occupying the northeast corner of Euclid and Eleventh, this is a two-story home in the Spanish Colonial Revival style. The stucco sheathed structure is capped by a tiled hipped and gabled roof. Rafters punctuate the slight overhang of the roof. The entrance is located at the intersection of two wings: a front gabled twostory wing and a side-gabled one-story wing. An archway leads to a small vestibule in which the round-headed door is located. Projecting over the entry on wooden corbels, a small balcony is defined by a stick railing and an extension of the front gable supported by posts. Typical stylistic details include a screen of pierced stucco in the balcony and a heavy wooden lintel which tops a tripartite window in the one-story wing. Other features are hidden by mature landscaping. The house appears to be unaltered and in good condition. RESEARCH NOTES: According to the assessment record, Carl A. and Bertha J. Bauerlen built this house in 1927-28. Bauerlen was an orange grower in the 1931 directory citation.
