Description
The middle of three above average examples of Spanish styling, this is a two-story residence. Shallow hip roofs with brackets in the modest overhang top the stuccoed structure. The facade describes an "Ln in plan. A two bay arcade leading to the entry and a window with an iron grille are in the lower story of the long leg of the "LU while the upper level contains a bank of casement windows framed by shutters and more grillework. The lower story of the projecting short leg of the "LW is also occupied by a window encased by a grille and a hood. Additional casements with shutters are centered in the upper story. Additional features include a shed roofed porte cochere, impost moldings, and original light fixtures in the entry. Attractively landscaped and in good condition, the house appears unaltered. RESEARCH NOTES: Dr. Arthur L. and Katherine Weber were the owners of this property when the $6000 improvement first appeared in 1929. The house was pictured a few years later in the fiftieth anniversary edition of The Dailv Re~ort in the section entitled Wharming Homesw (5/28/32). Weber was a physician in practice with the three doctors Craig (Dr. William Craig, Dr. John Craig, and Dr. Mary Craig Williamson). The partnership owned the medical office building erected in 1927 at the corner of Second and D Street.
