Description
A late example of the influence of the Monterey Revival, this is a one-story residence with a low hipped roof. Wide clapboard and stucco sheathe the structure. The focal point of the design is a veranda which spans the facade between two hip roofed bays. Plain posts and brick flooring define the space. Three identically proportioned openings are equally spaced within the veranda: a six-panel door flanked by shutters and two sets of paired casements over spandrels also framed with shutters. Shuttered six-over-six double-hung sash windows occupy the side bays. A brick path curves up to the house from the curb. It is in good condition; present (1990) re-roofing may or may not result in an alteration. RESEARCH NOTES: This house was one of the last built on Euclid prior to World War I1 and the subdivision of many of the groves along the street. According to the assessment record, it was erected in 1938-39 by Edward and Edna Gray. Gray was a lawyer with offices on Second Avenue.
