Description
Extremely stylized in design, this is a one-and-one-half story residence influenced by the late French ~evival. A hipped roof of exaggerated proportions tops the house, accented by two widely spaced dormers. The dormers have slightly segmented heads and contain six-over-six double-hung sash windows. Brick siding encloses the house. Three facade bays are articulated by the fenestration. In the center the entry is recessed behind a segmented arch with a keystone. The paneled door is capped by a fanlight. Lined up below the dormers, the side bays also have segmented openings which are glazed with flat-headed eight-overtwelve openings. A brick chimney rises up the south elevation. The house has been sandblasted. It is in good condition. RESEARCH NOTES: This property remained unimproved for several years following a 1931 lot split. Earlier it had been part of a grove owned by Charles and Cecelia Lawson. In 1939 the parcel was purchased by Lowell and Fay Bartlett from Arthur and Carrie Magill. The improvement appeared in the assessment record in 1940. Lowell Bartlett was a lawyer; Louise Bartlett was a teacher.
