Description
Tudor Revival features enliven the design of this one-and-onehalf story English residence. The stuccoed dwelling is capped by a side gable roof from which three front gables project. Three bays more or less correspond to the gables. At the south end of the facade, the largest gable tops a projecting wing which contains a tripartite window with a segmental head on the lower story and a triple window with diamond paning in the upper story. A brick surround accents the first floor window. The north wing is defined by a smaller front gable and is pierced by a flat headed window, also with diamond paning and brick detailing. Offset over the recessed central bay, the third gable tops a dormer filled by another diamond-paned triple window. A small patio occupies the space below, with three full sized casements opening off the space. The entry is round headed, oriented at right angles to the street, and leads to the south wing. Other details include arched vents in the peaks of the gables and an arched niche in the wall around the corner from the entry. No major alterations were observed to this well-maintained property. RESEARCH NOTES: Apparently lot 453 of the Ontario Colony was split around 1924 and the construction of this house occurred a year or so later. the entire lot had been owned by A.W. and Nora Ells whose address was 1475 N. Euclid in the 1928 directory. Charles and Mildred Puckett were the next recorded owners of this parcel. Mrs. Puckett was the proprietor of a Ford Dealership (Lyle and Puckett) .
