Description
A deep lawn, mature trees, and flowering shrubs form the setting for this one-story Spanish house. An L-shaped plan is articulated by tiled front and side gable roofs. The void of the I8LI1 is occupied by a patio bounded by a low wall. Tripartite windows are located beneath the front gable and on the side gabled wing. The former has a segmental arch head while the latter is flat-headed. Extending to the north of the facade, a garden wall is pierced by a round-headed archway filled by a garden gate. Next to it, a chimney rises up the north elevation. The entry faces south to the patio and is arched and illuminated by an iron and glass lantern. Except for re-stuccoing, the house is unaltered. The property is in good condition. RESEARCH NOTES: Lot 453 of the Ontario Colony was split in 1924 by A.W. and Nora Eels, who lived on the southwest corner of Euclid and 15th, according to the directories. The next owners were Ralph and Stella Almquist who were assessed beginning in 1927; probably this house was built about that time.
