Description
Simple Colonial styling has been used in the design of this onestory bungalow. The symmetrical facade is capped by a side gable. Wide clapboards sheathe the building. Centered on the facade, the entry is announced by pilasters from which carved brackets supporting a gabled hood spring. Behind a screen door, the entry contains a six-panel door. Three brick steps and a landing lead to the doorway. Double-hung sash windows flanked by shutters with four-leaf clover cutouts are located equidistant from each side of the portico. In good condition, the bungalow has no apparent alterations. RESEARCH NOTES: This is the second house on this lot. The previous house, whose footprint on the 1912 Sanborn is clearly different from that on the 1928 map, was built circa 1900 by Francis M. Higley. Higley apparently lived elsewhere, as did the next owner, Grace Paulin. The present house was erected in 1927 by builder Clyde Jones, according to long-time residents.
