Description
An example of simplified Craftsman styling, this is a one-story bungalow. It is capped by a cross gable roof detailed with exposed rafters. Medium clapboards sheathe the structure which sits on a cobblestone foundation. The front gable is offset to the south and defines the slightly projecting porch. It contains a glazed entry flanked by a pair of double-hung sash windows on one side and a large, fixed pane window on the other. Another pair of double-hung sash windows, four-over-four, are set into the facade north of the porch while a single window pierces the south portion of this elevation. The bungalow is in fairly good condition. RESEARCH NOTES: In 1907 this property was part of the parcel associated with 732 North Euclid, and this house was not yet extant. Comparison of the present building and its footprint as drawn on the 1928 and 1912 Sanborns indicates that the north wing of the building was added sometime after 1928. The parcel consists of lot 13 and the south 10 feet of lot 12; the lot 12 portion was purchased in 1919 by then owners R.R. and Estelle Harrington. Ownership of lot 13 prior to that was held by E.H. and Florence Granger, who lived next door, and G.W. Hursey who lived elsewhere. Perhaps the original house dated to Hursey's tenure (1907-15).
