Description
Extensive use of cobblestone dominates the appearance of this one-story Craftsman bungalow. Spanning the facade and a portion of the south elevation, an "L"-shaped porch is enclosed by a cobblestone balustrade with a ragged top and battered pedestals. Tapered posts carry the porch roof at each end; pipe columns have been added for intermediate support. A short flight of concrete steps with cobblestone rails provides access to the central door. Windows to each side have been re-glazed. At the west end of the porch a cobblestone chimney rises through the roof. Crowned by a front facing gabled roof with overhanging eaves and exposed rafters, the clapboarded bungalow is largely unaltered and in good condition. RESEARCH NOTES: Goerz, the assistant manager of the Elymann-Goerz Hardware Company, erected this house in 1916 and moved in immediately, according to the assessment record and the 1916-17 directory.
