Description

The 1920s Craftsman vocabulary was employed in the design of this one-story bungalow. A cross gabled roof with extended eaves and exposed rafters tops the structure. The side gable shelters the clapboarded dwelling while the front-facing gable extends over a porch which covers the south half of the facade. The porch is enclosed by a low stuccoed wall terminating in two battered pedestals. Tapered posts carry the porch gable which is detailed with decorative brackets above the posts. A door and a large cottage window to the south open onto the porch. To the north, a pair of windows are shielded by bushes. A vent with horizontal slats pierces the front facing gable. Slightly extended lintels with angled ends cap the windows. No apparent alterations compromise the appearance of the bungalow, which is in good condition. RESEARCH NOTES: This lot was improved in 1927, according to the assessment record. The second owners, the Griffiths, purchased the property in December 1927, nine months after it was built, and it stayed in the family until recently (Historic Houses and Sites Vertical File).
